Arkansas State Fair

I may never catch up with blog posts... We went to the state fair. Jake had a good ol' time.

Chillin' on the tractor.

My BFF Sarah went with us.
She was terrified of the giant cow.
As was I.

Jake didn't want to get close to the
cows, but liked them from afar.

Seeing the baby ducks.

Watching the piglets chow down.

And some chicks.

That horse is my size!

Watching the poor baby ducks.
Forced to lean over the drop-off to get food.

To go sliding like this.

The obligatory state fair corn dog.

And he got to ride his first amusement park ride!
He totally loved it.

And we ended at the petting area, where the
donkey, zebra, and camel lived together.
Just like in nature.

Computer Time

I have found several preschool computer games for Jake at the Savers. He's never used the computer before, so I started out with what I thought was simple.

He tried Paint first, but totally didn't understand holding
down the mouse button and dragging it to make lines yet.
(I drew those lines to show him.)

So we switched to JumpStart Toddlers.
It's kind of below his level, but he enjoyed it a lot.

On one of the sections, you either click on a letter, or press
it on the keyboard and it shows a little cartoon for that letter.
How cute is he "typing"? :)

Enjoying the video.

First Haircut

Jake has had this crazy hurricane on his head since he was born.

It took him forever to start growing hair, but once he did, the hurricane continued.

Sometimes it's really curly, like this morning after I wet it. But sometimes it's just mostly straight and frizzy, looking a lot like a mullet since his hair hasn't completely grown in in front. So it was time for a haircut.

We went to a fun kids salon place. We had to wait almost an hour, because it's walk-in only. He enjoyed the train table.

And also played in the toy and tv room.

The he got to sit in a fire truck and eat his first sucker during his haircut. This was the first clip.
Also, he totally didn't understand eating a sucker. He pretty much drooled the entire thing back out onto the gown. I felt terrible.

She's doing a good job, Mama!

Well done!

Checking himself out afterward.

Enjoying a post-haircut animal cracker.

The new look.
(The front is mostly the same since it wasn't very long.)

Whoa. Look at all the curls!

Ready to go with his frog toy that he picked out from the prize box.
He totally surprised me. I thought he would scream
and require a headlock, but he totally did fine!

First Baseball Game

Yes. It's the 4th post today. I'm trying to get as much done as I can while I have access to this internet.

The boys joined the summer reading club at the library this year. They asked if Jake wanted to join too. I said no, but she said we'd get free baseball tickets, so I said yes. Library Night at the Arkansas Travelers game was July 11th. We got three tickets, but Jake was free, so we took Pop too!

Let's go baseball, let's go!

We were right under the speakers, so every time they
said something Jake would look up and listen.

Pretty soon it started looking like this.

Jake was concerned.

So we took cover.
Then some people came and kicked us out of the
pavilion, so we moved elsewhere.

It's funny to have a wet face!

The chick-fil-a cow came by.
Jake was totally not scared.
Unlike his mother was for many years.

Chick-fil-a Cow gave Jake a baseball.

This is what happens during long rain delays at a minor league baseball game. The mascots from Little Caesars and Playtime Pizza start wrestling on the concourse.

This is how you take a tarp off the field.

Jake was impressed.

The fam at the game... from far far away.

The Sumners Boys
or... the boys of Sumners?

Watching some batting practice.

Mama, I like it!

This is also what's great about minor league baseball... it was the "Mascot's Birthday" so "many of her friends" came and they raced some kid. Guess what? The kid won.

Yay team!

Hat time!

It's late. Can we go now?

Since the game started so late, we left way early.
They ended up losing. Mwah-mwah.
But it was a fun first game for the Jake!

He Did It!

He finally figured it out! Also, watch for Jack. Not the time he walks by the camera. Later.

First In Flight

We took Jake's first flight last weekend when we went to Fort Worth for Mother's Day/birthdays.

I'm excited!

Checking out the other passengers.

Our plane is here!

Yay flying!

What's out there?

Reading up on the safety guidelines.

Browsing the SkyMall mag.

Finding the most interesting thing
near us: the screw on the armrest.

We did not get near the engine, as it warned us.

Jake and his Grandude

One time he got really really tired.
And also had a ridiculous sized head.

We celebrated my mom's and my birthday.
My name made it on the cake this year!

Unlike last year.

Jake helped blow out the candles.

Unlike last year when he just sat there.

Mom and her kids near Mother's Day.

Jesus has a lawn care service in Fort Worth!

Chatting with Great Grammy.

Chillin' with Uncle Josh.

I realized I didn't take any pictures with Jake on Mother's Day (just like last year) so we took a few before he went to bed. His tongue is out all the dang time these days.

On the way back to the airport, we drove by Six Flags. They're deconstructing the Texas Giant!
(I hate that ride, though, so I don't care.)

Just relaxin' on the way back to the airport!
