It's A Miracle!

I HATE shredding chicken for recipes. Yes. Hate.
I saw somewhere online that you could put it right into the mixer while it's still hot and it would shred it.
I thought "No Way!"
Way.

Put it in hot.
Use the regular beater (on a Kitchenaid).\

Turn it on for like 30 seconds.
Voila!
I will never shred chicken again!
I'd way way WAY rather clean out the mixer than shred.

Clearance!

I LOVE Target. I especially love Target the day after (and week after) holidays. The day after Valentines, the day after Easter, the day after the 4th of July, the day after Halloween, the day after Christmas...
Well I didn't make it to Target until Wednesday this week, but I stocked up on a little bit of 50% off candy and a few other 75% off things. Most things I didn't want to spend as much as they still wanted on them. Plus I figured I could get cheaper candy at Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart had almost no candy. Boo! So, I went back to TWO Targets on Thursday to find some candy. Brand new Target: Not ONE bag! My usual Target: three full aisles of candy left!
Today, I wanted to go back one more time to see if the percentages had gone up... CLEARANCE! Candy was 75% off and everything else was 90% off! Score!
So now I present, the first picture of a receipt that I've posted because I bought a lot, but...

I got some toys for my prize box at school for 10 cents per package, some gifts for people, just some junk, and more CANDY! They had packages of peanut M&Ms for 67 cents each, and there was a coupon attached for 50 cents off now! Seventeen cents baby! So yay Halloween sale!
Now, I'm off to take down my Halloween decorations and put up Thanksgiving stuff. You know? Thanksgiving? That poor forgotten holiday that comes between Halloween and Christmas? It's in two and half weeks. Don't forget!

Amazing!

I was peeling apples tonight to make some homemade applesauce. I pushed the peels into the garbage disposal and turned it on. It sounded like something was in there that shouldn't be. At first I thought it was a baby spoon, but it wasn't loud enough. I forgot about it for a few minutes and put more in the sink. When I went back to get it out the water was backed up, so I had to run it again figuring it would just finish chopping up the mystery item.
It still sounded like it was in there, so I got a flashlight and looked down in there and found this...

a COMPLETELY UNDAMAGED nipple. Despite going through two full runs of the disposal, it was as good as new. Way to go, Gerber Nuk nipples! (Gerber, you may now send me some free ones. Thank you.)

It's A New Caaaaaaar!

I've been watching a lot of The Price Is Right the past two weeks, as evidenced by the title of this post. So I was going to do this post about 6 months ago, but now it's going to be even better. Here's the timeline:
May 1997: Turn 16 years old.
January 1998: Get the 1990 Honda-who-was-never-named for driving to high school.

September 1998: Take picture with Old Honda on some homecoming theme day where we were apparently allowed to dress up as the '50s, but still had to wear our uniforms.
August 1999: Go to college and leave Old Honda at home for the family to use.
July 2000: Brother turns 16 and starts driving Old Honda
May 2001: Next semester of college I would be driving to elementary schools for classes, so I really needed a car. The parents used the money my great-grandmother had given me when I was born to buy Rhonda the Honda - the 1994 edition. I loved that girl!
December 2005: We bought The X, which became Jon's car while I drove Rhonda.

September 2008: Rhonda had some issues at the ripe old age of 14, but was still holding out for me. Jon's parents ever so graciously GAVE us their Buick, as they were purchasing a minivan for transporting present and future grandchildren. They also wanted us to be able to sell Rhonda to help us get the down payment for our house and have a safer car with their grandbaby who on the way. Thanks Sumnerses!

Hugging Rhonda bye on the last night she was mine.

Bertha the Buick hanging out in the driveway in the snow.

December 2008: The Wreck We were down to just Bertha, but Jon's parents again ever-so-kindly let us borrow their other Buick until we were able to get a new car to replace The X. That ended up being three months! Thanks again Sumnerses!
Yesterday: We got a new car! It's a 2006 Buick Rendezvous and I love it! It will be Jake's and my transportation for many years to come. It has a ton of storage space, a huge area in back for stroller, groceries, junk, etc. and has this cool feature where the radio gets louder when you speed up to get on the freeway and softer when you slow back down. Yay new car!

Gig 'em new car! (She doesn't have a name yet.)

Hugging the new car hello.
And look! It even came with a Jesus fish. Yay for saving $4 buying a new one!

An Amazing Conversation

{Scene: Ashley is about to leave the boss family's house for the day and the boss mom is reading off all of the scheduled events for the summer.}

Boss Mom: ...and we're going to Hawaii the last week in July.
Ashley: Everyone or just you two?
Boss Mom: Do you mean YOU?
Ashley: No, I was just wondering if the kids were...
Boss Dad: Hey! That's a good idea!
Ashley: Free Smiley Face Courtesy of www.FreeSmileys.org
Boss Mom: Would you like to go to Hawaii?
Ashley: I would LOVE to go to Hawaii!
Boss Dad: I meant it was a good idea for us to go alone without the kids.
Boss Mom: But it would be like we were alone if Ashley went with us and watched the kids.

{End Scene}

I'm Back Again!

Wow. It's been a while. Jon went back into the hospital on April 2nd and we finally came home on the 9th. He had a third blood patch and a variety of different medicines tried out on him. His head still hurts, but it seems to be getting better very slowly. He's been drinking a lot of caffeine (They were giving him that at the hospital in his IV.) and taking some of his SIX medicines they sent him home with. He just needs to get all better. You can keep up the prayers on his account.

So much has happened that I've wanted to post about in the past two weeks, and I'll gradually put it all up over the next few days. I'll start with last last Thursday (the 3rd). D and I were taking C to tae kwon do and I looked down a side street near the TKD, and there was the Weinermobile! We dropped him off, and even though D looked like this:

I drove back and parked nearby. We got out and I took this picture of him by the back:

We were headed around to the side to take a picture with it, but it closed up its door and started the engine. I was upset that we missed it, but they (they being the firemen who were out taking pictures of it too) said that it was just pulling into the fire station to get cleaned and we could come in with them!

It was a pretty unique experience that probably not many people can say they've had. We did obviously end up getting some pretty cool pictures.

Then the firemen said that D could get up in the truck.

Which led him to want to sit on any other platform or shelf on the whole vehicle...

The firemen were really nice and were answering all of his questions and explaining things to him. And then he got to try on one of their helmets:

Usually we just have to sit in the car in the parking lot bored while C is in class. This was the best tae kwon do day ever! :)

Little Rockers!

I figure it's probably been used before, but I thought that "Little Rockers" would be an excellent name for citizens of Little Rock. Eh?
This message is a public service announcement for all Little Rockers. It is in regards to the fact that two of the greatest things ever are coming to Little Rock very soon. We just got a Forever 21, but these are even better!
As I walking up to the Target in west Little Rock yesterday, I saw a sign on the outside of the building informing me that "Target will remain open during construction." I though, "eh?" I looked to the end of the building and saw a gated off area for future construction. I walked inside to see a temporary wall put up near the front door and this beautiful wonderful amazing sign:

TARGET IS BECOMING A SUPERTARGET!!! If you've never experienced a SuperTarget, you're in for a wonderful treat. Grocery store! Starbucks! Jelly Belly candy bin aisle! It didn't have an opening date, but it's wonderful news. SuperTarget is about the best store ever. Ten bajillion times better than that stupid Super WalMart. (Yes. This sign has the same set of four pictures on there twice. Don't ask me about that one.)

Then... I had heard this rumor several months ago and then heard it on the radio a few weeks ago, so you may have heard by now. We're also getting a The Container Store! Apparently many Little Rockers are unaware of the awesomeness that is The Container Store. Just visit the site and see just a small bit of what is available there. It's wondrous. The grand opening is March 8th and 9th:

YAY!

And... One week until LOST!
