ALMOST 40 Weeks

40 WEEKS aka 10 months aka Pumpkin-sized baby!

By request, here is the last picture. I usually take the pictures on Sunday after church when I'm dressed up, but since I don't know if I'll make it that far, I decided to go ahead and get it now at the end of the day when I've been up since 6:00am.
It was supposed to be a "small pumpkin" but this is all I had. I bought it in September for Halloween/fall and then was going to do what I did last year and make it into a snowman for winter. I never did that and then realized week 40 was a pumpkin, so it's been in the closet since then surprisingly not rotting. The baby's not really that big.
So I've pretty much made it to 40 weeks. I never thought it'd get here! We found out about baby at the end of June! That was a long time ago! So here we are. Just waiting. I really hope the labor starts while I'm at home and not work. Just so we can get going faster. I'll let you know!

36 Weeks and Counting...

It's the final countdown! Here I am at 36 weeks aka 9 months aka honeydew-sized baby.
Although, like the last two months, it wasn't actually a honeydew this week. It was a crenshaw melon. I've neither heard of that nor do I know where to get one, so I went with something easy to find.

Things to know about me at 36 weeks:
* Do not say "Not sleeping now is getting you ready for not sleeping in a few weeks." or "Are you ready for your world to change?" or "Are you still pregnant?" or any other equally annoying thing. I might possibly punch you in the face.
* I am now a full-fledged snorer.
* My feet and ankles aren't swollen. My fingers aren't swollen. I'm still wearing my rings. Yes!
* Although not technically an outie, the edges of the belly button can now be seen raised under a thin shirt. That's why I almost always wear two shirts over the high-rise pants.
* Everything I eat feels like it's sitting in my throat.
* I have contractions all day every day. They don't hurt yet, but I know they're coming when I feel like I can't breathe. Also, if I'm walking around a lot, there are more contractions and they make me feel like I need to pee. Lovely.
* The boy moves in giant pushing motions rather than kicks and punches these days. I look down and my whole stomach is moving.
* At the doctor's visit last week he said that Jake is head-down (Hurray!) and that I'm at 1 centimeter dilated and not-a-bit effaced. (Yes, I know you can be that for weeks.)
* I had my 2nd shower this weekend (which I'll post about soon) and the kid will be well dressed. I'll tell you that much.
* I'm pretty much miserable all of the time, but still need at least a week (preferably more) to finish getting things put away and get stuff cleaned up. So don't come yet, kid!

If I don't make it to 40 weeks, I hope to be able to quickly snap a picture with the 40 week food product that's been sitting in my closet for a while now, suprisingly not rotting, before heading to the hospital.

32 Weeks!

Here I am at 32 Weeks aka 8 months aka pineapple-sized baby.

Well, actually 33 weeks is pineapple-sized, but 32 weeks is something called a jicama which I've never even heard of. And 31 weeks was "four oranges" and that'd be pretty hard to hold with one hand. So I went with pineapple.
The nursery is finally coming along. And by coming along I mean there is paint on the walls and there are almost no boxes from moving in. I have my first shower next weekend and Jon's mom and sister are ordering the crib for us soon, so it will get a lot better pretty soon.

Useless factoids at 32 Weeks:
Belly Button Status: Still not an outie (yay!) but the edges are starting to stick out just a little bit, but not enough to show through clothes.

Swelling: None! My rings still fit just fine, as do my shoes. And I don't have cankles.

Contractions: Yep. They're not too often yet, but when I get them, they kind of stop me. I had to stop walking through Wal-Mart today, not because I couldn't walk, but because it was just more comfortable not to. I know. They'll get worse. That's why God created epidurals.

Kicking and Such: Jake's always moving. He moves the most when I'm sitting down and kicks/punches/karate chops the hardest when I'm lying on my right side. It honestly feels like he's kicking my right hip bone. Who knew the uterus went that far over?

Breathing: Not going as well, but I've figured out how to push him out of my diaphragm and back to where he belongs. His favorite thing to do, though, is simultaneously push up on my diaphragm and down on my bladder. I may have said that last month, but it's still true.

Indigestion/Heartburn: Not back yet. Not looking forward to that. But he's so low, it may not be as bad as I expect.

Well, that's about all. 8 weeks to go...

28 Weeks!

This is going fast! So here I am at 28 weeks aka 7 months aka cauliflower-sized baby.
Technically, 27 weeks was cauliflower-sized, but 28 weeks is chinese cabbage, and who's gonna eat some of that? And also, can you buy that? So it was either 27 weeks cauliflower or 29 weeks butternut squash. I pick neither, but I figured someone would be more likely to eat the cauliflower. The End.
Oh, and yes, that's a different backyard. We took it at our house this month.

Important facts at 28 weeks:
Baby Name: Will be announced in the coming month!
Belly Button Status: Still an innie and still has some depth to work with! Yay!
Hair: Not falling out at alarming rates anymore like it was about 10 weeks ago.
Nails: Growing very fast, but they always have.
Complexion: Awesome, except for this red rash looking thing on my chest that has gotten way worse since pregnancy. It doesn't itch or burn and isn't hot or anything. Just ugly, but I've managed to hide it in my monthly pictures.
Breathing: Very difficult when sitting back or lying down. Makes sleep quite enjoyable.
Digestion: Very difficult when sitting back or lying down. Makes sleep quite enjoyable.
Feet, legs, and back: Only hurt when standing for eight hours at Target on the weekends, but that will be over next week! Yay!
Weird things: I've started waking myself up with random grunts or snorts when I'm just about to fall asleep. It's embarrassing, but I think it has to do with pregnancy congestion, so I have an excuse.

24 Weeks and First Presents

So for those of you who were wondering how I was going to hold a fruit/vegetable and hold up more than the number five, here's the answer:

24 Weeks aka 6 Months aka Corn-sized baby
(You can't buy corn right now at the store, and then my printer ran out of ink, therefore you get a printed picture of rainbow colored corn rather than the real thing.) Also, it's weird how very different the sunlight is in this picture than in all of the other pictures. Same time of day, same place, different sun. (Yes, I know the time changed, but one hour shouldn't make that much difference.)

So as soon as we found out that it's a boy, I went to Target and picked up a couple of things for him. I love Mommy and I love Daddy! :) And yes, we're wearing blue in honor of his boyhood.

His first gender-specific gifts. Friday night Candice (Jon's sister) gave us these adorable outfits that she went out and bought on Friday afternoon. They are both super cute, but I love the little longjohns with kneepads for a 0-3 month old!

Sunday Jon's dad gave us his first of many future Cowboys outfit.

Last week Boss Man was in College Station on business and came back Friday. He got out of the car and said "I guessed wrong," and handed me this. So freakin' cute! I was so sad because this was the sweetest thing he's done in the 16 months I've worked for them. I told him not to worry, because hopefully the next baby will be able to wear it.

24 Week FAQs:
Q: Do you have a name picked out yet?
A: Nope.

Q: How are you feeling?
A: Still good. Thanks.

Q: Do you feel the baby moving?
A: Yes. It was general movement inside and random pokes like kicks, until this past week and especially the last few days when it's been a BUNCH of kicking. He was kicking me in the lower stomach area for the entire day Saturday. It wouldn't have been too bad except it was in the exact same place all day long.

Q: Is the nursery getting ready now?
A: Nope. I was waiting to find out gender and then will go looking at bedding at Thanksgiving with my mom and will work from there. I'll keep you updated.

Oh... We're Halfway There...

...oooh-oooh... living on a prayer... Yeah, anyway, so we are now officially halfway to baby. I said to someone the other day that I had a halfway developed baby in me, then realized that sounded really weird and kinda creepy. So here I am at 20 weeks/5 months/banana-sized baby.

It's amazing how well I'm suddenly fitting into maternity shirts, like the one I'm wearing in the picture. An explanation for the huge jump from avacado to banana came on babycenter.com. It said that up until 20 weeks, they're measuring the length from head to booty because they're all so curled up, but after that they include the length of the legs. So the baby is actually about half the size it will be, about 10 inches these days.
So at the halfway point, here are some answers to my FAQs:
Q: How do you feel/Are you still sick?
A: No already. That ended like 6 weeks ago. Thank goodness.

Q: Are you craving anything?
A: Nothing specific, just food all of the time. Always. Hungry.

Q: Do you know what you're having?
A: I assume a baby. The flavor will (hopefully) be determined at the next appointment on November 14th.

Q: Have you picked a name yet?
A: We haven't even discussed it. We both have names we like, but we haven't actually sat down and talked about it. Something about picking a name for a person that they will have for the rest of their life scares me more than anything else about having a baby. I'm just kind of avoiding it at this point.

Q: Are you settled into your house?
A: (I know. Not related to baby, but asked all of the time.) No. We (mostly I) have a LOT of stuff and it will take a while to get it all where it needs to go. Plus paint needs to be applied in most of the house and that probably won't happen until Christmas. So ask again then.

16 Weeks

Quick blog... We got the internet and cable at our house yesterday afternoon (just in time for TV Premiere Night to the Max!) but somehow in the move, my computer has decided to only stay on somewhere between 5 seconds and 2 minutes at a time. Kind of makes it hard to accomplish anything online, so I'm quickly doing this at the job.

Here I am last Sunday at 4 months aka 16 weeks aka avacado-sized baby. I had another growth spurt of my belly the night before, and I was especially poochy that day, so we'll see how it compares to next month's picture. They might not be too different from each other. When he took the picture, Jon said "Are you pushing out your stomach?" "Nope, just way bigger than yesterday at this moment in time."

Baby Update - 12 Weeks

Ok, since I never went back and told the whole story...

June 27th morningtime: Took these little babies... say WHAT?!
June 27th afternoontime: Went to Barnes & Noble and bought Jon book
June 27th eveningtime: Gave Jon book (seen below) with picture (seen above) taped inside

June 28th: Coincidentally invited by Candice (Jon's sister) to come to their house for dinner along with Jon's parents... perfect timing!

Took this cake to tell them.

Also took this shirt for Alyssa Kate to tell them, but decided on the KABAM strategy of showing them the cookie cake rather than the "oh look at that!" strategy of the shirt.

July 4th weekend: Went to Fort Worth, you know, to see the fam because I have time off work and it's the fourth of July. Oh yeah, and we're having a baby. I gave my mom the picture-in-a-frame, my dad the ugliest Grandpa shirt ever as a joke, and my brother a homemade "Uncle Josh" shirt, which he loved.

A great picture of the cutest grandparents-to-be ever.

Here I am at 8 weeks aka 2 months aka BEFORE.
There's a great thing I found here that tells what size fruit or vegetable your baby is each week. I planned to take a picture with said fruit or vegetable each month, but 8 weeks was a kidney bean and all Jon's mom had was a can of them and I didn't want to waste them, so we went without it the first month.

Alright, something went berzerk in my eye in this picture, but here I am now at 12 weeks aka 3 months aka lime baby. I woke up last Tuesday morning, August 19th with a belly. For real. It wasn't there the night before, then suddenly it was. Ka-pow!

Limey baby.
