16 Weeks

Quick blog... We got the internet and cable at our house yesterday afternoon (just in time for TV Premiere Night to the Max!) but somehow in the move, my computer has decided to only stay on somewhere between 5 seconds and 2 minutes at a time. Kind of makes it hard to accomplish anything online, so I'm quickly doing this at the job.

Here I am last Sunday at 4 months aka 16 weeks aka avacado-sized baby. I had another growth spurt of my belly the night before, and I was especially poochy that day, so we'll see how it compares to next month's picture. They might not be too different from each other. When he took the picture, Jon said "Are you pushing out your stomach?" "Nope, just way bigger than yesterday at this moment in time."

Going Into Shoe Retirement

Before 2004, I didn't wear flip flops. Shocking, I know. I hated the feeling of something between my toes. My BFF Erin and I were planning a trip to Los Angeles, though, and I wanted some comfortable walking shoes that weren't dorky, so I asked her what she recommended. She told me about the greatest flip flops known to mankind: Reefs. I bought them in several colors and started wearing them all of the time. Here they are making their premiere in LA:

In 2006 in Katy, TX, again with Erin. (Apparently I often wear them with that same shirt.)
FYI: This was the first time we'd seen those giant red balls outside of Target so we took pictures with them for several minutes.

Even the family I work for's weirdo cat loves them. She was wearing them one day when I was at their house!

I've worn those brown reefs nearly every day, 9 months a year for over 4 years now. I had noticed that they'd started to wear down. As seen below.

Just on the right shoe, just on the edge where my big toe is.

Apparently, I walk all kinds of weird with my right foot. If you go back and look at the first two pictures, you can see me doing it. No idea how I can walk like that. So when I went to Fort Worth a few weeks ago, my mom got me some new ones, since my big toe was about to hit the pavement when I was walking.
This is how it's SUPPOSED to look...

Aaaaah. Much better. Yay for another four years in brown Reefs!

The new one and the old one. I'll have to work on building my foot impression into the new one.

It Happened Again

Look at me... two posts in a night! What?!

What do I mean "it happened again"? Melting one of those cheap blue plastic plates that someone gave us for our wedding? Or destroying something with the burner at the bottom of the dishwasher? Either one works really.
Somehow this plate fell to the bottom of the dishwasher and melted. Hmph.

I Will Get Better At This

I have so many things I want to post about, but have been so lazy. We're so busy right now. We're closing on a house on Friday and moving in on Saturday. Yeah. Never mentioned that, did I? Jon's mom gave me her car and I sold my darling. There will definitely be a post about that, but I haven't gotten around to it. Even though it was three weeks ago. There have been weird nature-y things around our apartment building. Haven't shown you those either.
I plan to catch up, but I don't know when. We're packing all week this week, and our cable and internet won't be hooked up at the new house until Thursday. If you know me, then you know I thought this could be a huge problem in regards to fall television premieres next week, but luckily not much is actually going on yet. We (or at least I) will have to go to someone's house on Sunday night to watch the Emmy Awards. Super important. Other than that, I'll survive. Dancing With the Stars premieres over Monday, Tuesday AND Wednesday, but I can live without seeing those. A bunch of my shows premiere Thursday (Earl, Office, ER [Hallelujah for the last season!], Survivor, and Grey's Anatomy) but we'll be set by then.
The important thing I wanted to post tonight was baby related, of course, since that's all I seem to say recently. I'll get back to the good ol' random posting like before, I promise. I went to the doctor yesterday for my 4 monthish checkup and took D, which was an adventure in and of itself. Last month I heard the heartbeat, which was pretty cool, but I didn't get to tape it because I didn't know the doctor was going to do it in the exam room with basically a microphone with a tiny speaker. So this month I was ready, but Fetus was all ready to avoid the mic. Stage fright.

Clearly, Fetus wouldn't stay still. Headless Doctor started out looking for it and found it around 13-17 seconds into the video, then Fetus made a run for it. He found it again around 40-44 seconds into the video, and Doctor informed me that "He's really active." Thanks, doc. As if I didn't know.
And speaking of "he", I'm a little mad. I figured all of this time that we'd be finding out the gender at next month's appointment, around 19 weeks. But nooooooooooo. Doctor said there are things they like to look at that aren't really visible until around 22 weeks, so we have to wait until November. Boo! I just want to know now! What are you gonna do though?
Well, I'll be taking another fruit/vegetable picture this weekend for my 4 month picture, but don't know when I'll get it up. I'll keep you on your toes, but don't hold your breath. Fainting from on your toes is probably worse than fainting flat-footed.

Baby Update - 12 Weeks

Ok, since I never went back and told the whole story...

June 27th morningtime: Took these little babies... say WHAT?!
June 27th afternoontime: Went to Barnes & Noble and bought Jon book
June 27th eveningtime: Gave Jon book (seen below) with picture (seen above) taped inside

June 28th: Coincidentally invited by Candice (Jon's sister) to come to their house for dinner along with Jon's parents... perfect timing!

Took this cake to tell them.

Also took this shirt for Alyssa Kate to tell them, but decided on the KABAM strategy of showing them the cookie cake rather than the "oh look at that!" strategy of the shirt.

July 4th weekend: Went to Fort Worth, you know, to see the fam because I have time off work and it's the fourth of July. Oh yeah, and we're having a baby. I gave my mom the picture-in-a-frame, my dad the ugliest Grandpa shirt ever as a joke, and my brother a homemade "Uncle Josh" shirt, which he loved.

A great picture of the cutest grandparents-to-be ever.

Here I am at 8 weeks aka 2 months aka BEFORE.
There's a great thing I found here that tells what size fruit or vegetable your baby is each week. I planned to take a picture with said fruit or vegetable each month, but 8 weeks was a kidney bean and all Jon's mom had was a can of them and I didn't want to waste them, so we went without it the first month.

Alright, something went berzerk in my eye in this picture, but here I am now at 12 weeks aka 3 months aka lime baby. I woke up last Tuesday morning, August 19th with a belly. For real. It wasn't there the night before, then suddenly it was. Ka-pow!

Limey baby.

Remember The Time I Had A Blog?

I'm alive! For the past about 6 weeks I've been feeling pretty sick every night and not really feeling up to sitting at the computer. I've been gradually feeling better, but then the Olympics happened. If you don't remember, I heart the Olympics! Every night for the past two weeks, I've come home from work and then watched 4-5 hours of the Olympics (depending on how late it went). Needless to say, I've been very tired for two weeks.
I've enjoyed the swimming, diving, and gymnastics the most. I am upset to say that, with only 24 hours left of the Olympics, that I haven't seen two my of favorite and most incomprehensible events: the long jump and the high jump. Both of those completely blow my mind. How do you propel your body that height and/or distance? Unbelievable. I hope it will show up sometime in the next two hours tonight or sometime tomorrow afternoon. It just amazes me.
At Christmas 2004, my mom (who buys me the Peanuts Hallmark ornaments every year) got me these adorable ornaments:

I obviously haven't had a reason to put them out. (I don't put very many non-Christmas ornaments on my tree... especially Olympics ones.) I was very excited to be able to use them as decorations during this time. I pulled them out of my Christmas box when packing it all up in January and put them in my desk to put out this August. They are on top of (and hanging from) our TV stand. Thanks mom!
Speaking of Olympics, I've been doing Olympics stuff with D this past two weeks. (Remember, I'm homeschooling him for Kindergarten... more on that later in the week.) On this page he colored the rings (his first experience with colored pencils) and was supposed to draw his favorite Olympic event. He LOVES the diving and has been watching it a lot. He did this completely adorable and awesome drawing:

Way to go, D!

Now that I'm feeling better, I have quite a few things to post about. I will hopefully be doing a baby update on Monday. (I work 1:30-9:15 tomorrow, so not tomorrow.) I'm already almost through with the torture known as the first trimester! Thanks for anyone who's still around. I promise I'll do better from now on!

Three Yearversary!

First, I have excuses as to why it took so long for me to post again. I posted the baby news, what, last Tuesday? Wednesday was our third anniversary. I got sick that night after we got home and stayed really sick until Monday (and just some sick since then). Starting Monday through yesterday we stayed at Jon's parents' house to watch their dogs while they were out of town. Therefore, I haven't posted in a while. Sorry.

So, three years ago (last Wednesday), July 16, 2005, we got married! We decided that this year we were just going to go out to dinner and dessert since we have a very expensive present coming in March. We went to a restaurant near downtown and since I was super-full, we went down to the River Market and walked around.

We went across the bridge that goes over the river and got a great sunset shot, not unlike last year's picture, which was taken from below the same bridge before it opened to pedestrians.

Then we went back down and found this awesome statue that I had to pose by, again, much like last year.

While Jon was taking the picture of me, a guy walked up and asked if we wanted a picture together. I hoped he wasn't going to steal my camera. We stood on either side of the statue, in order to pose a funny picture, but he said "You gotta cuddle, cuz you're like, boyfriend and girlfriend." "Ok dude. Husband and wife. Thanks for not stealing my camera." Then we finished off the night going to Cold Stone Creamery for dessert. It was great!

Funny Fact: It seems our friends, the Nelsons did the same thing as us (plus a little more) for their anniversary two days later.

Unrelated afterthought:
Later that night, when taking the prenatal vitamin, I choked on my water which ended up making me throw up, which ended up apparently setting off the "morning" sickness I hadn't had up until that point, which has continued until this current moment. Woo. Hoo.

I Have a Blueberry For A Daughter... or Son

That WAS going to be the title to my post, but I liked it so much, I'm using it anyway. Well guess what? We're having a baby! Woo! Up until we went to the doctor yesterday, I, having used the traditional methods of determining due date, thought I was seven weeks pregnant. There's this awesome thing online that tells what fruit or vegetable the baby is close to in size, and at week seven, it's a blueberry. So I thought that'd be a funny title. (I'm hoping someone out there knows what that comes from.) However, after the doctor visit, I was told that, as of today, I'm six weeks pregnant. Whatever. Now the baby's back to being a measly little lentil bean. Hmph.
After ultrasound and examinations and blood tests and criminal background checks, they have given us the due date of March 6, 2009.* As soon as he said March 6th, I said, "Hey! That's 3-6-9!" I think it's awesome. Shut up. I'll have a little mathy baby. It would be even more awesome if it was born on its due date at 12:15. You know. 3-6-09 12:15! Yeah right. Another day I'll post the pictures of us telling family, but for now you'll have to just be happy with the ultrasound.

I like that the way it's positioned it actually looks like a tiny person. I know that's other stuff in there, but it still looks cool. (It's the little white thing on the left side of the black hole in my uterus.) The tech found the heartbeat, which my friend Alisa told me is extremely rare this early. The baby was in just the right position to get it. My baby already rules.
I've been very lucky so far, but at the same time careful not to brag. I really haven't been sick at all, just really tired. I know it will come back and get me in another way later, but I'm happy to avoid that part at least. Speaking of tired, I'm going to get ready for bed. Good night y'all!

Oh, and here's one of these things:

Lilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

* The number of weeks pregnant I am didn't correspond with the due date that they gave me. They said I was 5 weeks 6 days, yesterday, putting today 6 weeks and me therefore due on a Tuesday. However, March 6th is a Friday. So we're just going with that. That's why the ticker job says 6 weeks 4 days.

Present On My Windshield

I got up this morning and took Jack outside, only to find a golden nugget from heaven on my windshield. This is what I saw. I have taken the effort of pointing out to you some of the best things about it:

Simply amazing. One of the best car windshield flyers ever. And the fact that they put them out overnight! (I found it at 6:45 this morning.) Great job, Glen and Meechy.

I also just noticed the random circular saw blade in the G in BIG. Awesome. Also, if Meechy is the contact person at the bottom, shouldn't his name be in all capital letters with the rest of the title? I bet GLEN made the flyer.

Let's Play A Game - We Have A Winner!

It's called Guess What This Is.

Clue #1.: It is not something that came out of someone's body.
Clue #2: I took this picture in April.

Well, actually two half-winners. Combining Brandie and Jennifer's guesses... it's the pollen that I cleaned off of an outside glass table in April. Very gross.
