Those Guys Again

Early in the week former Boss-Man called to see if I could keep the kids Thursday night until Friday morning. Boss-Mom was out of town all week and he had to go to Dallas overnight for a job, but would be back by the time the kids got home from school Friday.

Wrong. So it sleeted Thursday night, so school was canceled and I got the kids all day Friday. AND because of the sleet, all flights into Little Rock were also canceled, so I had to stay with them until today, when their dad was finally able to come back. Here were our adventures:

After picking up the boys we went back to the house.
D wanted to feed Jake.

Friday morning we slept in. I took Jake in to the boys,
and they started playing with his toys with him.

I went to get dressed and when I came back they said,
"Hey Ashley! We wrapped up Jake and put on a show for him!"

The three-man band.
C on xylophone, Jake on "tambourine" and D on piano.

They made Jake into Joseph.

And then Mary.

This is why I'm afraid to eat things at their house.

Friday afternoon I bundled up Jake in his snow suit he hadn't been able to wear yet to go outside. (I knew it was supposed to snow, so I brought it along for pictures' sake.)

On the back porch.
This suit makes his face look super-fat.

Cute? Yes.

In the front yard.
Pardon the snottage.
And I like his little thumb sneaking out of the sleeves.

Clever caption.

The real fireplace and the fireplace channel.

D warming himself in front of the tv.

Then leaping into the winter scene channel.

We spent all two days in front of their gas fireplace.
At one point all five of us were bundled up on the floor
in front of the fireplace watching Dirty Jobs. For some reason,
I couldn't get a clear picture of Jake in front of the fire.
They all came out blurry. Very weird.

The porch on Friday night when it started to snow.
(It had only been sleet up to this point.)

This is what happens when you leave Lil' Smokies in their water for a couple of hours. The grease congeals. Gross.

The view of their backyard this morning.

The front yard.

This is what it looks like when you let a
6 year old dress himself for outside.

Then they "sledded" in the front yard.
(They used to live in Iowa. Thus the sliding mechanisms.)

D's footprints with their dog's footprints.

And then we saw a woodpecker outside.
This was through the glass and screen,
so it didn't come out very well.

Things I Learned At Breakfast Today

by Jake

Eating graham crackers requires a lot of concentration.

If I hold my graham cracker square out over the
edge of the high chair, Jack will jump up and grab it.
(Mama has that Scholastic box out to look for
books for me from her old classroom!)

If I'm in the light, something dark shows up behind me.
Mama called it a shadow.

Graham crackers can be surprisingly messy.

If I hold my graham cracker rectangle out over the edge of the high chair, Jack will jump up and grab it too.

Jake's Tips On How To Get Ready For The Big Race

Suit up in one of your favorite teams' windsuits.

Strap on your 1985 Nikes that used to be your uncle's.

Then you gotta warm up.

Be sure to stretch!

Give a little drool to intimidate the competition.

Don't forget to wave to your fans!

Relax while you wait for the race to start.

And you're ready to go!

It's Happening Again...

This happened once already almost exactly two years ago. I had a blog stalker and wanted to know who it was. Turned out it was one of Jon's friends. So, it's happening again.

Someone out there... you... yeah, you... the one in The Colony, Texas... the one who has been on my blog 64 times since the day after Christmas... you're blog stalking.

Who are you? I'm very curious, because I don't think I know anybody in The Colony. Leave a comment or e-mail me at the bottom of the page! Don't stay secret! Thanks.

And on a completely unrelated note, someone in Vietnam clicked to my page after searching Google images for nipple. Ha! Perv got a picture of a bottle nipple.

Party Time!

Wow. I haven't posted in a while! And this post has absolutely no Jake in it. What?!
Today is Candice's 30th birthday (Jon's sister, Jake's 3-day-a-week aunt/keeper, awesome sister-in-law, etc.) We went to her 80's themed party tonight.

The birthday girl with the super cute decor.

This amazing Rubik's Cube cake was done by an incredible local bakery who also did Griffin's cake a few weeks ago.
Have you ever seen so much fondant?

Her friend Kim did all (or most?) of the awesome decorations.

80's movies!

Even Alyssa Kate was dressed up like the 80's!

Punky Brewster and Doogie Howser, M.D.

I will never be this number.

Blowing out the candles.

Tom wanted full squares of the fondant cubes.
Kim wasn't so sure about his choice.

Caroline had a high ponytail with scrunchie too!

J.R. Ewing and Jane Fonda were there too!

My team kicked butt in the 80's movie trivia game. So much that the Pacman actually ate the ghost. By the by, didn't notice that the board said "30" until the dots were almost all gone.

And then people played Nintendo.
Happy Birthday Candice!
